Romanian consumer prices fell 0.2 percent in November from a month earlier, on lower prices for food and non-food products, and the annual inflation slid to 1.26 percent, the country’s statistics institute INS said Thursday.
Food and non-food products dropped 0.3 percent, while service rates increased 0.2 percent. The biggest price cut was registered for “fruits and fruit cans” which were cheaper by 4 percent in November. “Other services” experienced a 0.53 percent price hike.
“The harmonized consumer price index (IAPC) for November 2014 compared to the previous month was 99.80 percent and compared to November 2013 – 101.55 percent”, the INS press release shows.
The average price increase for the last 12 months compared to the previous 10 months was 1.1 percent based on IPC and 1.4 percent based on IAPC.
In october, consumer prices increase 0.2 percent month on month and 1.44 percent year on year.
The National Bank of Romania cut back inflation estimates from 2.2 percent to 1.5 percent for this year and from 3 percent to 2.2 percent in 2015.
