Companies in Romania are investing yearly on average EUR 478 for training a manager and nearly half as much (EUR 265) on training an employee, are the conclusions of the survey Trends on the Training and Development Market in 2012, carried out by EXEC-EDU.
Romanian managers continue to prefer classical training to other forms of learning such as e-learning, coaching or mentoring.
Top managers resort mainly to classes of leadership and coaching while middle managers need to improve relations and communication within the team.
Even though learning and development needs have risen, the companies’ training budgets maintain this year at the same level as in 2011.
To develop the employees’ activities, companies use mainly ‘on the job’ experiences in which employees work for up to 17 days in other departments or other positions to gather new experience and knowledge. Companies also resort to internal training (13.4 percent) to the same extent as training from external sources (12.7 percent).
Recommendations from friends and colleagues are more important than the internet and social networks in choosing the training provider.
The survey confirms the increasing preference of organizations for customized training (in 68.7 percent) adjusted to their specific needs, while open trainings, where people from various organizations can participate, are preferred by only 33.3 percent.
The survey was carried out from April to May 2012, based on a questionnaire filled in by human resources managers and top managers in 184 companies that have been constantly investing in training over the past years, from various domains such as financial services, pharma, trade, distribution, IT&C and auto industries.
