Cluj-Napoca, the second largest city in Romania, has been designated the European Youth Capital in 2015, thanks to documentation supporting the investment in youth for a sustainable and responsible urban development.
Cluj-Napoca presented the SHARE project. The program is presented on the youthforum.org website. Cluj-Napoca filed its candidacy in March.
Out of the 12 cities that applied from across the continent, Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Ivanovo (Russia), Varna (Bulgaria) and Vilnius (Lithuania) were shortlisted in this year’s competition.
The EYC program aims to acknowledge and encourage innovation and inclusion in the field of youth. Winners act as role models for creating more informed and active youth on the European stage. Since 2009, European Youth Capital winners such as Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Turin (Italy), Antwerp (Belgium), Braga (Portugal), Maribor (Slovenia) and Thessaloniki (Greece) have had a chance to showcase youth-oriented cultural, social and political events and activities throughout their appointed year.
