Cinderella, one of the most cherished childhood stories, is turned into a real gem ballet on the music of Sergei Prokofiev, on this weekend at the Bucharest National Opera. The ballet will perform under the magic wand of the conductor Adrian Morar.
The Cinderella ballet is signed by Mihai Babushka, who made the libretto, and was also the director and choreographer, while the main roles are played by Bianca Fota, Oana Babushka (for Cinderella) and Ovidiu Matei Iancu, Vlad Toader (for Prince).
“I wanted an atmosphere similar to Dali’s paintings, with decors that hint the lapse of the time. I also preferred to add some humor to a difficult music – I transformed the two step sisters in transvestite, an element which create a counterbalance to the lyricism of the development of the two prime soloists”, says Mihai Babushka.
The ballet is performed in two acts, and it is an adaptation of Nikolai Volkov, who was inspired by the story written by Charles Perrault. The event will take place between March 8-9, on Sunday and Saturday, from 19.00.
