Chello Central Europe, which in Romania runs TV channels Minimax, Megamax, TV Paprika, FilmCafe, MGM, Sport1 and SportM, has announced plans to close down the Bucharest office, announced the company in a press release, quoted by Mediafax newswire.

Over the past years, Chello Central Europe made significant progress in optimizing and increasing the efficiency of its operations. As part of this optimization process, the company decided to restructure its operations in Romania. Starting September 2013, the sales and marketing activities of the channels of Chello Central Europe will be run via an agency structure, and its Bucharest office will be closed,” according to the press release.

The Bucharest office has been run by Anda Manza since 2011.

“The restructuring will not affect the current content and services of the 7 TV channels in Romania, and on the long term, the company aims to improve and keep expanding these services,” says the company in the press release.

Chello Central Europe is part of Chellomedia, the content division of Liberty Global plc. In May 2013, The Wall Street Journal wrote that Liberty Global put its Chellomedia television-channel business up for sale.
