The Romanian division of French retailer Carrefour will open this Thursday a hypermarket in Galati, eastern Romania. This is the 25th hypermarket that Carrefour has opened on the local market. In addition to this, the company will also open a supermarket in Bacau.
The hypermarket in Galati has a 7,500 sqm sales area and is located on the grounds of the Galati Shopping City mall developed by New Europe Property Investments (NEPI).
In addition to the 25 hypermarkets, Carrefour Romania also operates 75 supermarkets and 53 proximity stores. In July the retailer opened an online store – carrefour-online.ro.
Carrefour Romania’s turnover stood at EUR 986 million (VAT not included) last year, up 3 percent y-o-y.
