BUZZ CEE: new film festival hits south-east of Romania

10 documentaries and 19 short-movies from 18 central and south-east Europe will compete for the RealBUZZ and ShortBUZZ trophies during the first edition of the Buzau International Film Festival (BUZZ CEE), which will take place in Buzau city, May 4-8.

The ten documentaries were selected out of 400 movies, and are presenting pieces of history of Europe. The Ukrainians (d.Leonid Kanter, Ivan Yasny) says the story of the Ukrainian army, mostly formed by volunteers, from the Russian conflict, Hot Men Cold Dictatorships (d. Mária Takács) tells the story of the sexual minorities of the communist Hungary, while The Children of Peace (d. Emir Kapetanovic) reminds of the Bosnian war.

Romanian documentaries are also in competition: The Golden Robot / Roboțelul de Aur (d. Mihai Dragolea and Radu Mocanu), a strong movie about multiple box champion Steluta Duta, My Film Years (d. Ruxandra Nae), an emotional movie about the progress of technology of a couple, Beyond/ Dincolo (d. Răzvan Chirilă), which present a day from the life of those impaired.

Peace and Quiet In The Aquarium (d. Tayfun Belet), Undune (d. Dennis Rätzel, Germany), Neighbours (d. Gabriel Khotivari, Georgia) and The frosty fog creeps over Tungus-river (d. Artur Khimchenko, Russia) are the other documentaries of BUZZ CEE.

The jury of BUZZ CEE documentary section is formed by director Alex Shiriaieff, director Claudiu Mitcu, DocRoads workshop fonder George Kalomenopoulos and producer Aurelian Nica.

The short-movies selected will be juried by director Iulia Rugina, monteur Eugen Kelemen, producer Dan Burlac and critic Emanuel Lazarescu.

The screenings will take place in Cinema Dacia 3D, George Ciprian Theatre and Buzau County Council Hall. More details about BUZZ CEE can be found here.
