Snooker players from 30 countries will be in Bucharest between March 18-29 for the European Snooker Championship, the Under 21 and Senior Teams competitions, which will take place at the Caro Hotel.
According to the official data, more than 250 players will participate, from which 47 are Romanian players.
For this event, an international gala dedicated to snooker will be organized on March 23 at the Press House. The Championship is organized by the Romanian Snooker Federation and the European Billiards and Snooker Association.
“Our federation was established in 2007. The results we obtained but also the evaluations we were subjected to by the European organization prove the fact that we have confirmed our potential to continental levels and as such we can host such an event” added Francisc Toba, the chairman of the Romanian Snooker Federation. As the organizers specified, Romania’s goal is to obtain the first medal which would ease the way to competitions reserved for professional players, quotes Agerpres newswire.
Agerpres also informs that currently there are 319 sportsmen registered in Romania of which 150 are active in 16 clubs.
