Actors Ilinca Goia, Dorin Andone and Dan Tudor will lecture pages from “Ulysses”, the masterpiece of James Joyce, on the second edition of Bloomsday festival, which will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 19.00, in Saint Anton Square (Old City).

Bloomsday is a commemoration and celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce during which the events of his novel “Ulysses” (which is set on 16 June 1904) are relived. This year, Bucharest and other 40 cities across the world will celebrate this day. Joyce chose the date as it was the date of his first outing with his wife-to-be, Nora Barnacle; they walked to the Dublin suburb of Ringsend. The name is derived from Leopold Bloom, the Ulyssean protagonist.

Besides the lectures offered by the Romanian actors, the tenor Florin Ormenisan accompanied by the pianist Alexandru Raileanu and the string quartet of National University of Music Bucharest will enchant the public. At the event, the Irish ambassador Oliver Gr =ogan will be present.
