BCR outsources IT services to Romtelecom

Romanian telecom operator Romtelecom and Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) have signed a contract which allows Romtelecom to provide IT local service support at national level for the existing over 1,000 points of presence of the bank, representing approximately 21,000 equipment units.

The contract strengthens the strategic partnership between the parties, being complementary to the one signed between Romtelecom, Cosmote Romania and BCR in 2011 for integrated telecom services, which was the biggest on the market.

After winning the tender organized this year by BCR, Romtelecom started to provide the IT local service support for the bank, which consists in repairing, replacing, installing and providing on-site support for the bank’s hardware equipment and software, but also in fixing issues related to the client’s infrastructure.

To deliver BCR the requested services, Romtelecom has a team of up to 350 people who manage also the IT needs of the entire portfolio of Romtelecom internal and outsourced IT Managed Services.

On this area, Romtelecom provides support, at this moment, for approximately 50,000 pieces of equipment of more than 50 customers.

“Romtelecom signed the biggest telecom contract on the market with a bank, in 2011. That was the starting point of a strategic partnership with BCR, which proves Romtelecom’s increasing strengths on business solutions,” said Nikolai Beckers (in picture), CEO of Romtelecom and Cosmote Romania.

Romtelecom and Cosmote Romania also provide BCR with integrated VoIP telephony services based on CISCO technology, managed VPN data services, and mobile voice and data services through Cosmote Romania.
