Average salary in Romania down 0.5 pct in February

The gross nominal average salary amounted last month to RON 2.395 (EUR 542), down 0.5 percent compared to the previous month, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data show.

According to INS, the net nominal average salary was RON 1.731 (EUR 392), RON 9 (EUR 2) lower against this January (0.5 percent). The highest values of the net nominal average salary were registered in tobacco product manufacturing (RON 5.151 – EUR 1.166) and the lowest in hotels and restaurants (RON 999 – EUR 226).

Also, as compared to February last year, the net nominal average wage increased by 6.5 percent. The real wage index over the same period of 2014 was 106.1 percent.
