Average gross nominal earnings go up in November 2015 to EUR 586

In November 2015, the average gross nominal earnings were RON 2,659 (EUR 586), 2.5 percent higher than the one registered in October 2015, while the average net nominal earnings were RON 1,918 (EUR 423), also 2.5 percent higher than the previous month, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

Computer programming, consultancy and related activities, including information service activities registered the highest values of the average net nominal earnings (RON 4,756), while accommodation and food service activities recorded the lowest values with RON 1,083.

In November 2015, “the majority of activities belonging to the economic sector the level of the average net earnings was higher” than that registered in October 2015, says INS. This increase comes about from “occasional bonuses (including annual or holiday bonuses), amounts from the net profit and other funds, production achievements or higher receipts (depending on contracts/projects)” and also from layoffs of employees with lower earnings in certain economic activities, further adds INS.

The highest increase of the average net earnings was recorded in activities auxiliary to financial services and insurance activities (25.5 percent), followed by manufacturing industry of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and the manufacture of tobacco products (between 11.0 percent and 13.0 percent), according to the INS data.

Increases of the average net earnings from October 2015 to November 2015 were also reported in the budgetary sector, specifically in education (+2.4 percent), public administration (1.4 percent), and health and social assistance (+0.9 percent), further reported the INS statistics.

Decreases of the average net earnings came from occasional bonuses, amounts from the net profit, other funds granted in October and also from “production un-achievements or lower receipts (depending on contracts/projects) or by hiring employees with lower earnings in some economic activities”, says INS. The most significant decreases in average net earnings were recorded in the manufacture of basic metals (5.0 percent) and in the extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas (4.6 percent), reported INS.

When it comes to the evolution of the average net nominal earnings between November 2014 and November 2015, there was an increase of 10 percent, and the real earnings index in relation with the same period of 2014 was 111.3 percent, says INS.
