Austrian investments to Romania reach EUR 9.4 billion in 2011

Austrian companies have invested a total of EUR 9.4 billion locally until the beginning of this year, making Austria the second largest investor in Romania after the Netherlands, according to data from the Austrian Embassy to Bucharest. The main sectors that have attracted Austrian investors are resources, agriculture, industry and services, says the embassy.

Bilateral trade has increased over the past year reaching EUR 3 billion. Austrian exports to Romania have increased by 10.3 percent while imports have gone up by 18.7 percent.

To celebrate bilateral relation between the two countries, the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy in Romania organizes the Austria Show Case event dedicated to Austrian food and beverage products. Part of this event, between September 6 and September 12,  all the 66 Billa stores in Romania will offer for sale Austrian products and organize various contests.
