ANCOM: Only 40 percent of Romanian internet service providers have a website

Only 40 percent of the approximately 1,000 internet service providers that are active on the Romanian communications market have a website where they post information of public interest concerning the services they offer,” according to data presented by telecom watchdog ANCOM during the international conference Information Is Power: Information Tools for Telecom Consumers.

“In order for telecom users to benefit from tailored services, based on making informed choices, all providers of telecom networks and services must have a web page. To this end, we will be looking for solutions at minimum costs to support providers of small networks to create their own internet pages,” said Catalin Marinescu (in picture), president of ANCOM.

Currently, telecom users have at their disposal several online tools to get informed: the ANCOM information centerPortabilitate.ro, where they can find out how to transfer to another telecom provider and keep their phone number and Veritel.ro, which allows them to compare offers.

ANCOM will also be developing this year the IT platform which will allow customers to measure the quality of their internet service.

The Authority is also working on implementing solutions dedicated to telecom users with various disabilities.
