6.5 mln Romanians visit YouTube each month

YouTube, world’s most popular video sharing platform, is visited each month by approximately 6.5 million Romanians, 60 percent of them watching music videos, reads a press release issued by Today’s online marketing agency and quoted by Hotnews.

Beside music, Romanians also watch on YouTube cooking lessons (25 percent), sports competitions (24 percent) and politics (23 percent). The top is completed by the 21 percent who watch content dedicated to technology and reviews about gadgets.

The most popular Romanian YouTube channel, Romanian record label Cat Music’s, has 1.4 million subscribers and the most popular vlogger in Romania – Mikey Hash – has over 700,000 subscribers.

Most of the Romanians, 94 percent, watch videos at home, but 17 percent of them watched a video on YouTube last time during their lunch break in a working week. This is one of the highest percentages in the Southeastern Europe region.

Unlike classic television, people pay more attention when watching a YouTube video. Thus, 56 percent of Romanians prefer not to do anything else while watching a video. Also, Romania is the country with the highest increase in viewing time in Central and Eastern Europe.
