Romgaz has stored around 2.75 billion cubic meters in preparation for the cold season, and other operators have also stored resources leading to a total reserve volume of 3 billon cubic meters, according to an official press release from the Economy Ministry.

This year, authorities decided to use the domestic gas production as the main source for reserves. Around 63 percent of the natural gas originated from Romania, while only 37 percent was imported. In 2010, 70 percent of the winter reserves were formed from imports, while only 30 percent of the natural gas came from domestic sources.
