Companies within the Renovatio ecosystem, one of the leading players in the field of solar energy and green technology in Romania, recently financed a charitable project worth half a million euros. This project involved the installation of 53 photovoltaic systems on the roofs of various schools, high schools, kindergartens, public institutions, and places of worship in 12 counties across Romania.

Specifically, these are photovoltaic panels installed at 15 kindergartens, 19 schools, three high schools, six cultural centers, five dispensaries, a monastery, a sports hall, an educational center, and two non-governmental organizations.

Renovatio thus provided funding for the “Education through Renewable Energy” project, carried out by the “Din Drag si Dor Pentru Comunitate” Association.

“The 53 photovoltaic systems were installed in 12 counties across Romania. Thus, 24 systems were installed in Galati County, 6 in Bacau, 5 in Ialomita, 4 in Calarasi, 4 in Constanta, 2 in Satu Mare, 2 in Olt, 2 in Dolj, and one system each in Giurgiu, Bucharest, Dambovita, and Cluj,” said Doru Voicu, Director of Strategy for the Renovatio Ecosystem.

In the first phase of the project, the association aimed to raise awareness among beneficiaries about the advantages of renewable energy. In the second phase, the “Din Drag si Dor Pentru Comunitate” Association intends to conduct an educational campaign on renewable energy in the form of a caravan. Representatives of the association will visit beneficiary communities and inform interested residents about the performance of photovoltaic systems, their impact, and immediate benefits.

“As of September 7, 2023, the systems have generated 45 MWh of electricity, according to the FusionSolar monitoring portal. It should be noted that the photovoltaic panels do not currently export surplus energy to the grid, but this will change in the coming months when they become prosumers. The total production capacity is 340 kW, consisting of 52 systems with 6.15 kW each, while system number 53 has 14.35 kW,” said Ionut Procop, President of the “Din Drag si Dor Pentru Comunitate” Association.

The 15 kindergartens equipped with photovoltaic panels are located in Huruiesti and Dealu Morii (both in Bacau County), Baneasa, Valea Marului, Smulti, Varlezi, Draguseni/Fundeanu, Tepu, Cudalbi, and Negrilesti (all in Galati County), Bucovat and Plenita (Dolj County), Baneasa (Giurgiu County), Amzacea (Constanta County), and Ograda (Ilfov County).

Furthermore, the 19 schools are located in Tatarasti (Bacau County), Balabanesti, Beresti – Meria, Certesti, Munteni, Nicoresti, Poiana, Buciumeni, and Tecuci (all in Galati County), Chirnogeni, Sacele, and Comana (all in Constanta County), Alexandru Odobescu, Nicolae Balcescu, and Valea Argovei (all in Calarasi County), Grivita, Gheorghe Lazar, and Cazanesti (all in Ilfov County), as well as in Satu Mare.

Three high schools in Galati, Tandarei, and Onesti are also beneficiaries of the project. As for the cultural centers equipped with solar panels, they belong to the communities of Helegiu and Gura Vaii (Bacau County), Dobrosloveni (Olt County), Gurbanesti (Calarasi County), Marisel (Cluj County), and the city of Beresti (Galati County). Additionally, five dispensaries in Cavadinesti, Corod, Jorasti, Suceveni, and Brahasesti (all in Galati County) now have photovoltaic panels, as does the Adam Monastery (also in Galati County).

Moreover, the sports hall in Caracal (Olt County), non-governmental organizations with an educational profile such as Save the Children in Bucharest, the Educational Center ERC in Satu Mare, and MagiCamp in Dambovita County have been receiving solar energy since this year and are direct beneficiaries of this project.

Renovatio’s commitment to supporting sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) projects dates back over 10 years. During this time, the company ecosystem has provided funding and consulting for numerous non-governmental organizations, which have developed over 300 charitable projects in areas such as environmental protection, children and youth education, and culture.

Renovatio is a pioneer in the renewable energy industry in Romania, having developed a complete ecosystem of major renewable projects, with over 18 years of experience in development, EPC, generation, marketing, supply, and asset management in renewable energy. This makes it a trusted player in the energy market in Romania and beyond.

The “Din Drag si Dor Pentru Comunitate” Association was founded in 2020 and is led by Ionut Procop. The association’s activities aim to develop communities through education projects and investments in infrastructure and construction. The “Education through Renewable Energy” project conducted by this association brings the benefit of knowledge about alternative energy production methods through the direct use of renewable resources.
