Training experts and specialists in the field of Smart Grids to build the electricity grids of the future and promote the energy transition: this is the goal of the second level international specializing Master’s launched by Enel and Politecnico di Milano and aimed at young and promising talents with a master’s degree in scientific disciplines and under the age of thirty.
The participants selected for the twenty places available will be hired on a paid apprenticeship contract of advanced training and research during the program, which will last approximately one year. Young graduates who work for Enel will also participate in the course, thus promoting the exchange of ideas and experiences.
Smart Grids represent the evolution of the electricity grid, an increasingly digital and resilient infrastructure, as well as an enabling element of energy sector decarbonization and the electrification of consumption, by favoring the use of distributed generation from renewable sources and the active participation of consumers in the energy market. The aim of the Master’s is to train highly qualified professionals able to tackle complex problems related to the design and management of digital networks, as well as to promote technological innovation in the field of electricity distribution systems.
“With the collaboration of the Politecnico di Milano we aim to generate skills in line with the future of the energy sector,” said Antonio Cammisecra, Director of Enel’s Global Infrastructure and Networks unit. “The international course dedicated to Smart Grids is an absolute first and is in line with the commitment of the Enel Group to promote training programs consistent with the needs of the energy transition. We are looking for young people willing to get involved to become the protagonists of the transformation of networks into technologically advanced infrastructures supported by digital platforms towards a decarbonized economy. The spread of smart grids will allow the growing integration of renewable energy and the electrification of consumption, enabling the economic and sustainable development of communities.”
Through the Global Infrastructures and Networks unit, Enel is one of the main Smart Grids operators in the world, with over 45 million smart meters, starting with Italy where around 32 million latest generation digital meters are being replaced, enabling an increasingly active role of consumers. The Group manages over two million kilometers of power lines in eight countries and has always been recognized as a leader in innovation and digitalization in this sector. Projects already implemented or being designed at national and international level will be the subject of the Master’s study, which will focus on innovation and on technical and economic aspects.
The program, open to students of all nationalities, includes theoretical lessons and experimental training in the laboratory with 330 hours of frontal teaching dedicated to the energy context, the specificities and implementation of Smart Grids, with a technical focus on Health & Safety, with 100 hours of laboratories and 210 hours of project work in the company.
