Electricity supplier and distributor Electrica has reported losses up to EUR 20 million as a result of the bad weather that engulfed Romania in the last days, said Ion Folescu, general director of Electrica, quoted by Agerpres newswire.
Heavy snowfalls and freezing temperatures broke electricity poles and transportation line, and around 60 teams of electricians are currently working to solve this issue.
Several localities in Buzau and Vrancea County remained isolated as a result of the heavy snowfall and blizzard that covered Romania in the last week.
Folescu said that around 8,300 consumers, belonging to Electrica and private operators Enel, CEZ and Eon, had electricity supplies cut as a result of the extreme winter weather.
