UiPath Foundation, a non-profit organization that facilitates access to quality education for children in vulnerable communities, is launching its Annual Report for 2022, announcing the impact of the educational programs implemented last year. The report illustrates the concept of “A Hero’s Journey” and highlights the journey of children and their determination to overcome all the obstacles in their lives – they are heroes on their own path, supported by UiPath Foundation to reach their maximum potential through educational programs.

Last year, UiPath Foundation focused on four main programs:

  1. Future Acceleration Program, dedicated to children aged 11 to 16;
  2. Own Your Path, the newest program developed by the UiPath Foundation, dedicated to high school students;
  3. Early Education Forward, with an impact on early education;
  4. Nurture Teachers’ Potential, aimed at supporting teachers in vulnerable communities.

Over 10,500 hours of tutoring

In 2022, in the Future Acceleration Program, a total of 250 children from vulnerable communities benefited from the foundation’s support. These children dedicated 10,545 hours to tutoring sessions in Romanian, mathematics, and English, thereby developing their skills and potential. Additionally, they invested 2,466 hours in non-formal educational activities, which helped them learn through practical and interactive experiences. UiPath Foundation distributed 12,661 kilograms of food, clothing, gifts, school supplies, and sanitary products in communities, providing support for a better life. The educational program was implemented last year in collaboration with strategic partners such as Fundația Inimă de Copil, Asociația Bună ziua, Copii din România, Fundația Pro Patrimonio, and Policy Center for Roma and Minorities.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in education

The educational digital platform Own Your Path was created from scratch by the UiPath Foundation in 2022. This platform has become a valuable resource for the 82 partner high schools in the 18 most vulnerable counties in Romania, as well as in the cities of Bucharest and Cluj. Within Own Your Path, 170 teachers have become partners, contributing to the implementation of this digital educational tool. To provide support and quick answers to students, DRUID AI developed a chatbot that was integrated into the platform. UiPath volunteers developed Robotic Process Automation (RPA) automations for the Own Your Path platform, ensuring efficient data management and engagement of students in the program. In 2023, 800 high school students from vulnerable communities officially joined the program.

NABU, the reading app for children, reached over 50,000 downloads

Early Education Forward is the program through which the UiPath Foundation ensures access to quality early education for preschoolers in vulnerable communities. In 2022, the NABU reading app was launched. To complement the early education intervention started in collaboration with OvidiuRo in 2019, the foundation launched the app developed by the global organization NABU. The app reached over 50,000 downloads in the first months since its launch. Over 160 illustrated books were adapted for young readers in Romania. Additionally, UiPath Foundation supported the publication of a collection of books in Ukrainian and the translation of 5 books into Ukrainian-Romanian. The app was appreciated by readers, who read 442,621 books in Romanian and Ukrainian.

Moreover, together with OvidiuRo, approximately 59,000 printed books were distributed to preschool teachers and children in kindergartens.

Over 14,000 students supported by teachers in our training programs

Through Nurture Teachers’ Potential, UiPath Foundation supported a total of 20 teachers from the Teach for Romania program in 2022. Additionally, last year the foundation developed two training programs in collaboration with Teach for Romania, dedicated to teachers and school principals – “Communities of the Future” and “Transformational Leadership.” The 90 participating teachers and principals learned techniques for strategically implementing sustainable change to increase access to quality education for children in vulnerable communities. The teachers supported through UiPath Foundation’s programs reached over 14,000 students.

Immediate humanitarian assistance and long-term support for Ukraine

Immediately after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, UiPath Foundation launched the Solidarity Fund for Ukraine. In less than two weeks, the foundation managed to raise approximately $1.4 million with the help of corporate and individual donors, which was allocated to support children affected by the war and their families in Ukraine. The support provided through the fund was diverse, ensuring both immediate humanitarian assistance and long-term support in Ukraine. Among the actions supported by the Solidarity Fund were partnerships with the Romanian Red Cross and Hope and Homes for Children Romania. Together with the Romanian Red Cross, the foundation sent 65 tons of food and medical supplies to Ukraine to provide immediate humanitarian assistance. Since April 2022, in collaboration with the organization Hope and Homes for Children Romania, UiPath Foundation has supported 244 children from maternal centers in Ukraine who sought shelter in Romania, providing them food, clothing, medical recovery sessions, psychological counselling, speech therapy, and Romanian language lessons.

“UiPath Foundation continued to strengthen its commitment, in 2022, to provide support to children in vulnerable situations, focusing on their educational needs. Through its programs, the foundation continued to positively influence the lives of children and teachers involved in our educational programs and expanded its intervention to new counties in Romania. For this reason, the theme of our report, A Hero’s Journey, represents our promise to provide them with the necessary support. Each child is unique and has an extraordinary story to tell; each one is a hero on their own path. And we are here to support them,” says Raluca Negulescu-Balaci.

In 2023, UiPath Foundation will continue to emphasize digital literacy and the development of digital skills for children in vulnerable communities, ensuring they have the right tools for learning and development. Additionally, the foundation’s team will continue to automate as many internal processes as possible with the help of volunteers from UiPath company, in order to gain time to focus on innovation and creativity in grassroots intervention.
