Current conversation: Andreea Petrișor, Managing Director Foodpanda Romania
1. What are the measures you took for your business during this period?
Since the end of February, foodpanda has taken all necessary precautionary measures against the new coronavirus, so that customers, suppliers, and partner restaurants are constantly protected from any possible risk. We strongly encourage users to opt for online card payments in-app or on the website as an additional precautionary measure. For those who choose this method of payment, the delivery will be made without contact, which means that the supplier will leave the order in front of your door, without any interaction. In addition, users who paid online received free delivery on an unlimited number of orders until April 15, 2020, using the voucher code STAUACASA, a voucher accepted by over three quarters of the restaurants listed on the platform. Also, this is just the beginning, and we will be implementing many more campaigns in the next period to support the work of our partners.
As for the suppliers, they are constantly instructed to wash their hands regularly and we offer them disinfecting gels so that they can sanitise their hands as often as possible. In addition, each supplier is responsible for verifying the agreed procedure together with the partner restaurants for picking up and delivering the products. We also have a very clear procedure for sanitising the bags that each supplier must follow. The foodpanda team is in constant contact with them in order to avoid any risk situation.
At the same time, we made sure that all our partner restaurants were informed about the best practices to keep their hygiene in preparing and sealing orders, as well as handing them over only to suppliers who carry a special transport bag. We support restaurants with consulting and marketing campaigns designed to further ensure their orders, but also with the fastest possible payments to them in order to pay their suppliers and employees.
2. What’s your advice for business leaders regarding this crisis?
I believe that during this period the most important thing is to act in accordance with the recommendations of the authorities, to take care of our customers and to protect our employees so that they are not exposed to any risk. Last but not least, I believe that we need to be as responsible and understanding as possible with business partners who are also facing difficult situations.
3. What’s the most positive business news you’ve read today and want to share?
I welcome the initiatives of local producers with a successful presence on the domestic and international market, who have reorganized their large production lines so that they can supply as soon as possible strictly emergency products during this difficult period (such as disinfectants or other personal protective equipment against the new coronavirus), being also authorized by the competent authorities and at low cost.
All these businesses understood that in order to benefit from a functional and productive business environment, it must operate in a healthy community, while helping the Romanian economy.
