Sameday, one of the leaders of the local courier market, announces the expansion of its easybox service, by inaugurating the 1000th locker, located in Bucharest, on 5 Lânăriei street. The company aims to double the existing network by the first quarter of 2022.
Operator of the largest delivery machine structure in Romania, Sameday launched the first locker in Bucharest, in September 2018, and, since then, the company has constantly expanded this service, covering all counties of the country and ensuring its presence in both major municipalities of Romania – such as Bucharest, Cluj, Constanța, Iași, Timișoara – as well as in smaller localities. Thus, currently, there are about 250 lockers in the Capital, over 60 in Ilfov County and almost 700 in the country. Except for the Bucharest-Ilfov region, the counties in the country with the highest number of easyboxes are Cluj (85 lockers), Timiș (71), Iași and Constanța (58), Brașov (48).
For the location of easybox lockers, Sameday has into partnerships with shopping centers, gas stations, residential centers, but also with individuals, owners’ associations or local public authorities. In line with the service expansion strategy, the company wants to further identify partners who have spaces located in urban areas, with high transit and accessible 24/7.
In the approximately two and a half years since the launch of the service, Sameday has delivered over 8 million orders in easybox. The use of lockers increased gradually, as the service expanded and became available to more consumers, but also as a result of its testing by a growing number of traders. In Bucharest, for example, over 40% of those who receive the easybox delivery option opt for it. Thus, in 2021, Sameday delivered, by the end of March, over 2.1 million orders in lockers, registering a 4-fold increase in volumes, compared to the same period last year.
Among the benefits that consumers enjoy when choosing this service are: simplicity of use, flexibility and speed of delivery, availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, cashless payment. In addition, the service is environmentally friendly because electronic safes do not produce paper, and their supply generates a lower degree of CO2 emissions from the courier operator. Basically, the end users of the service can pick up their packages at any time, at any time, from the chosen locker, paying in advance, online, or on the spot, with the card or with NFC systems.
The improved delivery experience that easybox offers recipients has a direct impact on the online stores that use the service. Merchants also benefit from a number of advantages when choosing the easybox delivery service, as it helps optimize their customers’ retention and shipping costs, reduce their carbon footprint and deliver orders faster. Through easybox, multiple visits to the customer, for delivering packages or picking up returns are avoided.
“The launch of the 1,000 locker is an important point in Sameday’s strategy. It allows us to be closer to a growing number of consumers and to better serve our customers who, more than ever, are looking for efficiency, predictability, convenience and flexibility. What we have managed to build so far through the national network of easybox lockers is the result of a continuous investment in technology and a constant effort to improve and integrate the feedback received from our partners, but also from end users. They are the ones who validate the services and I am glad to notice that the interaction with easybox brings a high degree of satisfaction among the recipients. Thus the service becomes a selection criterion of the merchants from which they place orders. This has made, along with other benefits, more and more online stores see locker delivery as an opportunity and join us in what we call the
. Easybox is a service in which I strongly believe and that I want to develop more and more, in order to offer a better experience to the end consumer and to support the increase of e-tail adoption in Romania”, says Lucian Baltaru, CEO of Sameday.
Currently, retailers that use the easybox service include companies such as eMAG, Decathlon, Flanco, FashionDays, Elefant, Libris and Cărturești, along with many other online stores that offer their customers the option of locker delivery.
