COMVEX and TTS Group: premiere operation for the port of Constanța

TTS (Transport Trade Services) and COMVEX are currently running a premiere port operation for the port of Constanța. Characterized by reducing the time the maritime vessel stays at the berth, the operation has the effect of increasing the flow rate of goods through the port.

It is about the loading in a combined mode – at the berth and then by direct transshipment at one of the two buoy terminals of TTS, of a Capesize class vessel, which is to receive 170,000 tons of ore stored in the COMVEX terminal.

In the first phase, the ship berthed at the COMVEX terminal, loaded 110,000 tons of cargo from both sides simultaneously: directly from stock with COMVEX equipment, and, on the other side, transshipped directly from barges with TTS floating cranes. The ship then anchored at one of the buoy terminals of TTS in the inner road of the port of Constanța, where the operation is to be completed by loading another 60,000 tons of cargo, in direct barge-ship transshipment.

Capesize ships are the largest seagoing vessels – capable of up to 400,000 tons gross cargo capacity. The name of the class – “Capesize”, comes from the fact that these ships have to bypass the South American continent at Cape Horn in their transoceanic voyages, being too large to transit the Panama Canal.

The TTS Group and COMVEX have been collaborating for over 25 years in the logistical organization of raw material flows, this operation being yet another example of how together we develop innovative transshipment solutions with the objective of increasing the volumes of cargo transiting the port of Constanța.
