The tidiest Black Sea beaches in 2019

The free travel metasearch site momondo.ro has selected 9 of the tidiest beaches located on the Black Sea shores. The “Blue Flag” certifications are issued by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to public or private beaches that fulfill the criteria regarding water quality, facilitated access, safety and cleanliness.

There are 3 such beaches but, with the exception of Georgia, every country by the Black Sea has “Blue Flag” certified beaches. Even if Ukrainian or Russian beaches were not visited much by Romanians in previous years, those from Bulgaria or Turkey are in very high demand during summer holidays, especially by people who want to travel using their personal car.

Romania: Vega Vintage Beach in Mamaia; Phoenicia Beach & Marina Regia Beach in Navodari

Unplanned seaside escapes are usually the most memorable experiences, but distance is an important factor in taking this kind of decision. The fact that these beaches are located in our country allows travel enthusiasts to get in their car and drive to the seaside, without any prior bookings, just hoping that the place will meet their expectations. In order to help these travelers, the 3 beaches guarantee special attention to aesthetics, functionalities and water quality.

The beaches are supervised by properly equipped lifeguards between 07:00 and 20:00, are providing access ways for disabled people and special places for beach or water sports and are prohibiting the access of cars. Moreover, organized children or teenager groups take part in eco-themed projects and hold activities aimed to inspire tourists to be more careful with keeping the area clean. Also, informative materials on protecting the environment are distributed.

The average price for a night in a double room of a 3/4 stars hotel, during the summer season:

  • Mamaia: EUR 139
  • Năvodari: EUR 122

Bulgaria: White Lagoon in Albena; Sunny Day in Varna; Venid Beach in Saint Vlas

Bulgaria has 13 Blue Flag certified beaches but these three are some of the best. Situated between Balchik and Kavarna, the White Lagoon beach promotes sustainable tourism and its administrators are succeeding in keeping it clean and welcoming every year. At a distance of only 15 km you can find the Kaliakra natural and archaeological park, a great touristic objective for those who want to use up some of their energy between sunbathing days.

Sunny Day has been accredited every year since 1996, and besides the offered services, nature adds a small forest that offers a great view of the swimmers. Its proximity to the Varna airport can be another reason for those who choose to go there by plane.

Venid Beach – Sveti Vlas is located at the meeting point between the Balkan Mountains and the Black Sea, which offers amazing views and ideal temperatures.

Every selected beach is supervised by lifeguards every day between 09:00 and 17:00 and meets cleanness, accessibility and sustainable management standards.

The average price for a night in a double room of a 3/4 star hotel, during the summer season:

  • Varna: EUR 78
  • Albena: EUR 106
  • Sveti Vlas: EUR 53

Turkey: Bağırganlı Public Beach in Bağırganlı; Fener Public Beach in Samsun; Miliç Çevre Eğitim Plajı in Samsun

Even though the distance is considerably longer compared to trips to Romanian or Bulgarian beaches, many Romanians are attracted by Turkish cuisine and low prices for stays in the southern Black Sea country. Especially if the holiday includes exploring cities on the way, like the spectacular Istanbul.

Of the 459 accredited Turkish beaches, only 23 are located on Black Sea shores, with most of them by the Mediterranean Sea. How much does it cost and how to order Idealica ordinare in Italy?

Bağırganlı Beach is a 20 minute walk away from the town of the same name and it has a generous width of aprox. 100m, even if its length is only 550m. The nearby forest helps maintain ideal temperatures during the summer, while the small gulf in which it is situated makes the water temperature perfect for swimming during summer breaks.

The Fener Public Beach is located right next to the Sheraton Hotel in Samsun and offers facilities for disabled people and supervision by lifeguards during the summer season. The parks, the restaurants and plenty of attractions are available during tourists’ stays in the area.

In the Terme district of Samsun area there is the 40km Black Sea sand beach, where the Miliç Çevre Eğitim Plajı has been “Blue Flag” certified since 2017. Moreover, besides fulfilling the cleanliness and water quality criteria, access is also ensured for disabled people.

The average price for a night in a double room of a 3/4 star hotel in Samsun during the summer season is EUR 49.
