Romanian seaside accommodation prices up 25-45 pct in July

The Romanian seaside has more than 110,000 accommodation spaces in hotels, villas, campings, hostels or private dwellings and the owners hope that all of them will be filled up this summer, even if prices have increased since July 1 by between 25 to 45 percent.

„Between June and July there is an increase in tariffs of about 25 to 45 percent, a rise due to seasonality, and there are 3 seasonalities in July. It is difficult to make accurate comparisons, the rates differ from hotel to hotel, for each room type, depending on the services included in the package and so on,”, Mirela Gherghina, product manager Accent Travel&Event states.

Weather is very important, so the attractiveness of the tourist destination is of great importance. If the potential tourist knows there are no other ways to spend their time when weather does not allow spending time at the beach, they might cancel their stay.

The most important destinations on the Romanian seaside this year remain Mamaia, Vama Veche, Eforie Nord and Venus but other resorts like Neptun-Olimp have started to close the gap.

In addition, the number of five star hotels increased, and so have all-inclusive offer from three-star to five-star hotels. The prices differ depending on the resort.

According to Mirela Gherghina, a room in a five-star hotel in Mamaia costs EUR 280/night in July, compared with prices from EUR 126/night in June, while a five-star hotel from Saturn has a price from EUR 110/room/night in July, against prices from EUR 86/room/night in June.
