The Association of Ecotourism in Romania (AER – Asociatia de Ecoturism din Romania) is launching tomorrow the “Mountainbike Romania” project, covering the entire Carpathian cycling circuit.
The Carpathians Circuit represents an expedition of recognition and public awareness about the potential of Romania’s Carpathian cicloturistic. It covers about 1200 km, totaling over 30,000 meters of cumulative level difference. The route will include public roads, forest roads and existing trails. The expedition will consist of a permanent team of two people (Bogdan Florescu and Dan Spulber), whom will be joined by other interested people. The circuit starts from Brasov and will go clockwise along the Carpathian chain: Middle, Occidental and Oriental.
The estimated time for this route is one month, and the expedition progress can be tracked in real time on www.eco-romania.ro/mtbromania. During the circuit this page will provide information about the participants on an interactive map and their experiences as an online journal.
”The experience gained during these years makes us believe that the Carpathians, through their particular natural and cultural diversity and the many places with still untouched natural forests, wild-looking mountain villages and traditional way of life can become a destination of reference to cycling in Europe”, believes Bogdan Florescu, coordinator of the “Mountainbike Romania” project.
“Mountainbike Romania” is part of several initiatives of the Association of Ecotourism in Romania (AER) aimed at developing and promoting ecotourism activities and promote ecotourism destinations in Romania.
