Initially established in Turda and known as Turda Fest, Transilvania Fest will take place this year in Alba county, more specifically in Blaj. Designed as an itinerant culture and food festival, Transilvania Fest promotes culture, traditions and local points of attraction.
The festival became itinerant in 2008, so as not to focus on only one location, but on the entire Transylvania region. Thus, every year there will be a new location in which Transilvania Fest will take place. Blaj was chosen after four months of research, on account of cultural and logistical reasons.
Transylvania Fest is held under the patronage of HRH Princess Margarita of Romania and international patronage of HRH Prince Charles of Wales.
Numerous educational projects are developed udner the umbrella of the festival. One of these is with Oxford Brookes, offering students the possibility of bringing practical contributions to the touristic development of the areas they are working in. British Council is aiding local education in the development of alternative studying means, while Seminarul Societal brings participants from the non-profit environment know-how on event organizing. Allberry Artisan, on the other hand, helps local artisans develop marketing skills for the promotion of their creations.
The festival will take place on 29-31 July, on Campia Libertatii in Blaj and gathers national and international experts in cultural tourism, gastronomy, marketing, hospitality and education. More information on the festival’s website.
