The number of Romanians choosing tourist packages in mountain resorts and spa destinations has seen a significant increase in the first four months of the year, indicating the recovery of Romanian tourism in the post-Covid-19 period. Thus, during January-April 2023, there was an almost 50% growth in bookings for mountain and spa resorts compared to the same period last year. These figures are provided by Bibi Touroperator, one of the most important tour operators specializing exclusively in travel offers in Romania.

The average price of a contracted mountain stay in the first four months of the year was 535 RON, representing a 28% increase compared to the average price of a stay booked in the first four months of the previous year. The average duration of a stay in mountain destinations remained the same, at 3 days. The top mountain destinations are Sinaia, Poiana Brasov, and Predeal.

Regarding the spa segment, the average price of a stay booked between January and April 2023 was 1.050 RON, showing a 16% increase compared to the average price in January-April 2022. The average duration of a stay remained unchanged, at 4 nights. The top 3 spa destinations this year are Băile Felix, Călimănești Căciulata, and Băile Herculane.

“Tourism in Romanian mountain and spa resorts has seen a strong growth in the first four months of 2023 compared to the same period last year. With the pandemic behind us, whether it’s winter sports or relaxation and treatment activities, Romanians are increasingly finding the opportunities and offers that our country provides, which is certainly encouraging,” said Adrian Voican, President of Bibi Group4Travel.

Mountain and spa hoteliers are also expecting Romanian tourists with special packages during the upcoming June 1st mini-vacation and Pentecost. In the Prahova Valley, offers are available ranging from 600 RON per person for a 3-night stay at a 3-star hotel with breakfast included. A 3-night stay at a 5-star hotel with breakfast and access to the spa area can amount to 1.600 RON per person. In Băile Felix, a 3-night stay during the same period, at a 3-star hotel, costs 550 RON per person, including breakfast and access to the swimming pool, while at a 5-star hotel, it reaches 3.100 lei per person for a 4-night stay, including half-board, a festive lunch, entertainment programs, and access to the spa area.
