Credit risk management is the process by which both companies and financial institutions, banking and non-banking, identify, evaluate, and manage the risks associated with granting credit and other forms of financing, from amounts owed following commercial transactions to consumer installment purchases. The importance of credit risk management is crucial as it helps maintain the financial stability of institutions and companies, protects investors’ capital, and contributes to general confidence in the financial system. Efficient credit risk management can prevent insolvencies and ensure the long-term sustainability of businesses, while also facilitating a healthy economic climate.
