According to the market study conducted by Sameday, a regional courier company, 64% of urban consumers planning to place online orders during the Black Friday campaign will choose delivery to an easybox. This year, there is expected to be a significant increase in delivery volumes associated with Black Friday, and the company has taken necessary measures to ensure it meets its delivery promise.

“Black Friday, the busiest day of the year, is a true test of our ability to provide worry-free delivery experiences. We will stand by our customers in the region during this hectic time, opening European paths for them and being an important part of their growth beyond borders. We will ensure that each package arrives at its destination in the shortest time and in optimal conditions, despite the challenges we face. We have consistently invested in technology and in strengthening our operational capacity, as well as in the relationships we have with our partners, and this is the time of year when the results of these financial and emotional investments will be even more evident,” said Lucian Baltaru, CEO of Sameday Group.

On the busiest day of the year, Sameday delivers 600,000 packages.

To successfully handle the busiest time of the year for e-commerce, Sameday will increase its warehouse staff by 45% and have 22% more couriers on the ground. The number of trucks delivering packages will also increase by up to 45% compared to a normal period.

This year, during the Black Friday campaign, packages will be kept in easybox for a maximum of 36 hours from loading. Products ordered this Black Friday will reach the recipient within 24-48 hours from the moment they arrive at the delivery hub. All orders will be delivered within up to 10 days.

Investments of over 120 million euros have been allocated for technology, regional expansion, and the easybox network.

In the past three years, Sameday has invested over 120 million euros in technology, regional development, strengthening operational capacity, and expanding the easybox network in Hungary and Bulgaria. These have translated into more efficient deliveries to customers and better quality of services. Currently, Sameday has reached a regional network of seven logistics centers in Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary.

Since 2021, the company has directed over 20 million euros towards software technology, developing an integrated applications ecosystem that provides transparency for customers in the delivery process. These also allow for more efficient processing in logistics centers, optimizations for courier routes, and better coordination between couriers and logistics HUBs. The ecosystem created by Sameday, integrating the core courier application with the suite of easybox applications, the courier application, applications in HUBs, and those for sender and receiver, ensures more efficiency in processes, and for customers, control and predictability when sending or receiving packages delivered by Sameday.

The accelerated international development of the last three years, with four logistics hubs in Hungary and Bulgaria and the expansion of the easybox network, has opened international development opportunities for online stores from Romania. By creating a unique delivery ecosystem for customers in the region, from January to October 2023, Sameday delivered over 1.4 million packages to Hungarian and Bulgarian consumers, thus supporting the regional development of online stores.

Over 73% of online stores in Romania have shipped at least one package via easybox.

Sameday has also made significant investments in the development of easybox, so that in the last three years, 33% of the total investments were directed towards local optimization and regional consolidation of the easybox network, which currently has 4960 units. Compared to last year, the easybox network in the region has grown by over 30%, reaching 700 easyboxes in Hungary and about 400 in Bulgaria.

Delivery to easybox has become standard in Romania for online stores and consumers alike. Over 73% of online stores in the Sameday ecosystem have delivered at least one package to easybox in the first nine months of this year. In the period January-September, Sameday delivered over 25 million packages to easyboxes, an increase of 38% compared to the previous year.

For this Black Friday edition, Sameday estimates a volume of 2.4 million packages delivered to easyboxes in the first days of the campaign. Thus, the estimated increase in the number of packages delivered to easyboxes is over 40% compared to the same period last year.

On average, Sameday delivers 2.9 million packages to easyboxes every month.

The Sameday App has had over 260,000 downloads within two months of its launch. In the first six weeks since its launch, the Sameday app has recorded over 260,000 downloads, and during peak hours, there are over 5,000 simultaneous users in the app. To date, the most used features have been extending the parcel retention period in easybox, used by 16.5% of users, followed by the option to postpone delivery or redirect to another easybox or address, selected by 13.8% of users.
