Romania’s industrial production increased by 3.7 percent year-on-year in August as the key-manufacturing sector slowed down, while the turnover index of industry rose by 8.4 percent, National Institute of Statistics (INS) data showed on Friday.
Compared with July 2018, the industrial production rose by 0.4 percent as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality.
Production in the manufacturing sector, the largest sector of Romania’s industry, grew by 4.1 percent year-on-year, mining and quarrying declined by 3.2 percent, while energy output rose by 4.4 percent in August, according to official data.
The deceleration of manufacturing production had an important impact on turnover of Romania’s industry, which rose by 8.4 percent year-on-year in August, compared with 16.5 percent in July.
In the first eight months of 2018, the industrial production increased by 4.5 percent year-on-year and industry’s turnover rose by 13.5 percent.
The new orders in manufacturing increased by 9.1 percent year-on-year in August 2018.
