Romania’s construction works continue to fall on sharp decline of residential buildings

The construction works in Romania declined by 4.9 percent year-on-year in November 2018, due mainly to a sharp contraction in residential buildings, official data show.

Residential buildings declined by 39.3 percent year-on-year in November, while engineering constructions – including government-financed roads and bridges works – increased by 23.7 percent. Non-residential buildings’ works declined by 24.8 percent year-on-year.

Capital repairs sector decreased by 13.3 percent year-on-year, maintenance and current repairs increased by 35.3 percent, while new constructions sector declined by 13.3 percent compared with November 2017.

Compared with October, construction works fell by 0.6 percent in seasonally adjusted series.

In the first 11 months of last year, construction works in Romania declined by 4.1 percent year-on-year, according to official data.
