Romanian impressionism and postimpressionism art bid gathers EUR 1.2 million in sales

Total sales after Artmark’s Romanian impressionism and postimpressionism art bid reached EUR 1.29 million. Two paintings by Nicolae Grigorescu sold for a combined value of EUR 460,000. Ciobanas pe Valea Doftanei (Shepard on the Doftana Valley) sold for EUR 250,000, while Intoarcerea din targu (Return from the fair) sold for EUR 210,000. A third paining sold by Grigorescu, Tarancuta cu fuior (Peasant woman with tow) sold for EUR 105,000.

Other works of art that were sold in the bid for four-figure prices were authored by Jean Alexndru Steriadi, Ion Tuculescu, Ipolit Strambu, Rudolf Schweitzer Cumpana, Ion Theodorescu Sion, Camil Ressu, Samuel Mutzner, Gheorghe Petrascu, Nicolae Darascu, Stefan Popescu, Lucian Grigorescu, Nicolae Vermont and Dumitru Ghiata.

Several author records were set in last night’s bid. The most significant ones were among the works of Schweitzer Cumpana (EUR 40.000), Leon Viorescu (EUR 15.000), Ipolit Strambu (EUR 20.000 ), Dumitru Ghiata (EUR 14.500) and Janos Krizsan (EUR 5.000).

Overall, the acquisition rate in the bid was of 96.33 percent of the total number of items entering the bid. The total number of items in the bid was of 109, the number of bought items was of 105.
