The ESX application, an app that offers a subscription with unlimited access to hundreds of sports centers and gyms in Romania, ended 2023 with a 250% increase in turnover, rising from 4 million to 10 million euros. The growth was due to constant expansion, with ESX currently present in over 100 cities across the country, providing access to more than 500 sports centers and gyms, 25% more than in the previous year.

Despite an economic context unfavorable to investments, in 2023, ESX managed to attract a significant capital infusion: 2 million euros from Catalyst Romania Fund II, one of the most important venture capital funds in Southeast Europe, led by Marius Ghenea.

Thus, among the most notable achievements of the past year are the launch of a new version of the application and web platform and the consolidation of the business-to-business segment. Huawei, Amazon, Teilor, Inditex, Sphera Group, KPMG, Bitdefender, OTP Bank, Fan Courier, Vodafone, Groupama, OMV, Oracle, Autonom Services, Cora and Helpnet are just some of the companies that signed contracts with ESX in 2023, offering their employees access to fitness and wellness services in partner centers. Thus, in addition to access to gyms, users can try activities such as climbing, cycling, squash, boxing, tennis, dance, etc.

In 2023, ESX emerged as the market leader in Romania: it surpassed a revenue threshold of 300,000 euros in just one day and logged over 20,000 visits per month to a single partner facility.

The demand for recreational and sports activities is still on the rise in Romania, and the ESX team is capitalizing on this interest for a more active and healthy lifestyle. For 2024, we aim to double our business turnover by attracting 400,000 members and expanding our network of partner centers from 500 to 700. Our team has also grown in proportion to the business needs, currently having over 40 employees and collaborators, twice as many as in 2022,” stated Andrei Trofin, CEO and founder of ESX.

In 2024, ESX also plans to launch two new lines of business, the first being a platform for coaches, nutritionists, and physiotherapists, and the second, a personalized nutrition product, with a database of over 1,000 recipes and over 100 filters for preferential choices.

With the objective of consolidating its market-leading position, ESX estimates that its members will enter its network of sports centers and gyms over 10 million times this year.
