The number of homes finalized in the first semester of 2011 reached 17.806, decreasing by 868 units from the similar period of 2010, according to Mediafax newswire that quotes data from the National Statistics Institute (INS). In the second trimester of 2011, 10.181 units were finalized, a decrease of 508 units from the similar period of 2010. More than half of the new homes were completed in rural areas, show official data.
The number homes that were finalized from public funds decreased by 592 units, while private funded homes also decreased by 276 units. The number of finalized homes increased in the following regions of Romania: North-West (+290 units), West (+243 units) and North-East (+68 units).
In the second trimester of 2011, 53.7 percent of buildings were finalized in the rural areas, while the rest of 48.3 percent were built in the urban area.
