Romania posts second highest industrial production growth rate in EU in April

Romania recorded in April the second highest industrial production growth rate among the 28 European Union member states, of 6 percent year-on-year in calendar adjusted series, EU’s statistical office said on Wednesday.

National Institute of Statistics (INS) data showed on Tuesday that the industrial production increased by 3.6 percent in April year-on-year in gross series, recovering from a slowdown in the previous month due to a surge in the manufacturing sector, and the turnover index of industry rose 14.8 percent.

“Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in industrial production were registered in Slovenia (+6.9%), Romania (+6.0%) and Poland (+5.9%), and the largest decreases in Malta (-5.8%), Ireland (-4.7%) and Croatia (-1.3%),”Eurostat said.

Compared to the previous month, Romania’s industrial production increased by 2.1 percent in April.
