Romania imported fruit and vegetables worth EUR 783.1 million in the first half of the year, while exports were almost ten times smaller, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics.
The value of exports was only EUR 78.6 million in the first half of 2018. Therefore, Romania’s deficit in global fruit and vegetable trade is EUR 704.5 million.
Data shows that imports of fruit and vegetables increased by 4.8 percent between January and June compared to the same period of the previous year, while exports increased by 9.6 percent compared to the first six months of 2017.
In H1 2018, FOB exports exceeded EUR 33.9 billion, a 10 percent hike from H1 2017, while CIF exports totalled EUR 40.2 billion (+9.7 percent).
