PepsiCo, one of the leaders in the food and beverage industry, announces a name change for one of the most popular soft drinks in its portfolio: Pepsi Max now becomes Pepsi Zero Sugar. It’s a perfect drink for those who want to enjoy a refreshing experience without consuming sugar.

We listened to our consumers and understood that they want more direct and transparent communication about the products they consume. With this change, we’re focusing on the essence of the product – zero sugar – and from now on, you’ll find the same delicious drink with the same intense taste under the new name Pepsi Zero Sugar. Moreover, this change is also part of the strategic process of unifying the 2 brands under the same umbrella“, said Mihaela Hristea Senior Marketing Manager Beverages.

Pepsi Zero Sugar is launching with a new, completely redesigned packaging that authentically reflects the brand’s values. This move is part of our commitment to constantly stay in step with changing consumer preferences.

To mark the launch of the new name, Pepsi will run a humorous communications campaign that appeals to Generation Z and is equally relevant to the wider public. The tongue-in-cheek tone shows that the brand is embracing the ‘complication’ created, a key word in the campaign, and will now focus on what’s important, conveying the message of ‘Same Taste Max, Zero Sugar’. The campaign will run from 15 February to 15 April and will include a series of videos, featuring comedian Bogdan Dracea, as well as digital, outdoor, visibility and eCommerce, traditional and modern trade communication.
