IULIUS Invests EUR 40 Million in the Expansion of Iulius Mall Suceava

IULIUS invests EUR 40 million in the expansion of Iulius Mall Suceava, the largest shopping & entertainment venue in Northern Romania, exceeding 65,000 sqm, following the latest expansion by another 14,000 sqm. The investment made by IULIUS in Suceava will thus reach a total of EUR 110 million.

IULIUS has a presence of over 13 years in Suceava, meanwhile establishing its place as the main venue for shopping, leisure, and entertainment, with more than 10 million visits per year, with patrons coming from the entire region. In a continuous process of adaptation to the demands from the public and the city’s development needs, Iulius Mall Suceava succeeded in constantly bringing in services and retailers long-awaited in the region. Now, the project is getting expanded, continuing its mission to keep the public connected to the retail trends, having access to renowned fashion brands directly in their city, to new entertainment concepts and services that make day-to-day life easier.

The expansion will feature a 14,000 sqm leasable area, structured as a retail park having direct access from the exterior, but connected to the mall as well. Another existing area of 10,000 sqm in Iulius Mall Suceava will be reconfigured and refitted. In total, Iulius Mall Suceava will have an area of over 65,000 sqm, strengthening its prestige position as the largest and most important shopping and entertainment venue in northern Romania. Upon the expansion of Iulius Mall, Suceava will have an even more competitive presence in the indigenous retail and be in the running with cities such as Iași, Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca or Constanța.

New renowned fashion brands and a park area

The expansion will supplement the attraction points featured by Iulius Mall Suceava with a new mix of international fashion brands, present for the first time in the region, drive-thru locations, stores, and services accessible directly from the exterior, including premises of the local entrepreneurs and producers, but also leisure, relaxation, and promenade area, with themed restaurants and cafés, and open-air terraces. Furthermore, the project will integrate medical services as well, in individual premises.

The new development will also integrate green and pedestrian areas covering approximately 10,000 sqm, a distinctive hallmark of the projects developed by IULIUS, that will bring in a nature installation and a space for open-air events, supplementing the entertainment offer already present at Iulius Mall Suceava.

Concomitantly to the expansion, the area will benefit from an urban remodeling, whereby the entrances to the project, the pedestrian access paths, and the roadway connections are upgraded. Also contributing to the project’s accessibility, there will be almost 800 new parking spaces, which will add on to a total capacity of over 2,150 parking spots, as well as new facilities for electric, alternative, and public transportation.

Currently, this initiative is in the stage of obtaining the permits for authorization. The commencement of the building works is estimated to occur in the second half of this year, and the completion of this investment will occur at the end of the year 2023.
