How collaboration devices help designing your workspace

In the blink of an eye, a “new normal” has been established for the employees who were once accustomed to meeting in conference rooms. Now, the world is completely online and the need to work from home and for virtual meetings is increasing rapidly.

Remote working collaboration tools (including video conferencing) have become a lifeline for organizations of all kinds – businesses, schools, doctors, governments – to stay connected and productive, with security and privacy being more critical than ever.

„We are now running our Webex platform at 3 times the capacity we were running at in February, to manage the dramatic increase in usage growth.  We had well over 500 million meeting participants generating 25 billion meeting minutes in April, more than triple the volume in February.  We take a security-first approach to remote working and provide highly secure, cloudbased collaboration solutions with integrated end-to-end encryption while protecting our customers’ privacy”, said Răzvan Atimariti, Collaboration Architecture Specialist Cisco Romania.

Today, content collaboration is gaining growing importance in education and meeting environments to foster individual and group thinking and support collective brainstorming. Visualization of ideas happens more naturally when people collaborate on whiteboards rather than relying on verbal-only articulation.

All-in-one device for team collaboration

The desk is where employees spend most of their time, but they often rely on multiple devices and application to collaborate and get work done. Whether they are working from home or in the office, employees need access to collaboration tools that seamlessly integrate into their workflow, offering the same experience no matter where or how they collaborate. This seamless experience helps remove points of friction that can slow productivity throughout the work day.

„When participating in a Webex meeting we can enter with a client software such as Jabber, Webex Teams or Skype for Business or via a link that can be accessed from any browser. However, collaboration tools must ensure security and privacy and if you are a Webex customer it is recommended to use Cisco video conferencing terminals. Webex is secure out-of-the-box and by default and provides end-to-end encryption for data in use, in transit and at rest with a key the customer controls”, added Răzvan Atimariti.

Small, medium or large spaces, Cisco offers a device for every space & use case.

Cisco range of terminals is divided into three categories: co-create, communicate and content share.

Co-create with Webex Board

For a comprehensive multimedia collaboration experience, Cisco launched Cisco Webex Board, comprising interactive touch displays, cameras, microphones and speakers.

With the Cisco Webex Board, you can wirelessly present, whiteboard, video or audio conference, and even annotate shared content. The Webex Board comes in three sizes—55-inch, 70-inch, and 85-inch screens and integrates the most common tools needed for team collaboration in physical meeting rooms into a single elegant device.

You can store everything you create on the Webex Board in the cloud and associate it with a virtual room. Team members can use the Cisco Webex Teams app to pick up where they left off in the physical room and continue working anywhere. The Webex Board automatically wakes up when you enter the room. It detects your Webex Teams app-supported device and suggests an activity, such as call, whiteboard, or wirelessly share your presentation.

Communicate – Room Kit Mini, Room Kit, Room Kit Plus and Room Kit Pro

The second range of collaboration terminals from Cisco helps companies redesigning their conference rooms.

Room Kit Mini, Room Kit and Room Kit Plus have similar functionalities and are installed on an existing monitor in the conference room. Depending on the size of the room and the number of participants you can choose between the three. Room Kit Mini is designed for rooms for 2 to 5 people, the so-called huddle spaces, which are becoming more and more popular these days. For meeting rooms with up to 10 people you can choose Room Kit and for larger rooms with up to 15-20 people, there’s Room Kit Plus.

Room Kit Pro is a very complex equipment, designed for boardrooms, auditoriums, and very large rooms and can be integrated with any existing audio system. It is most used in education and medicine and supports up to 5 cameras.

With Cisco Webex Room Kit, Room Kit Plus, and Room Kit Pro, respectively, as their base technology, Room 55, Room 55 Dual and Room 70 G2 bring capabilities such as speaker tracking, best overview, automatic wake-up, and people count to enable even smarter meetings. The products are all-in-one, integrated systems that are easy to install, use, deploy, and manage. Room 55 is available in single or dual 55-inch screen(s) and is ideal for small to medium rooms that seat 7 to 12 people. You will also want your best workstation laptop to have a fast processor, memory, hard drive space and graphics card which are all vital in running your business smoothly. Room 70 G2 is also available with single or dual 70-inch screen(s) – and can accommodate rooms for 14 people or more.

Cisco Webex Desk Pro is an all-in-one premium collaboration and productivity device featuring a 27-inch 4K display, superior sound system, and advanced noise-canceling microphone array. It seamlessly integrates with Webex Meetings or can be used with any video-conferencing solutions by connecting to your laptop.

Cisco Webex® Room Panorama provides a panorama video, using multiple camera lenses together to create a wide panorama view, automatically detects meeting participants and provides ideal framing and detects and switches between active speakers.

Webex Share on any screen

Cisco Webex Share is a palm-sized, affordable device that allows you to quickly and easily share content to any display without using cables or dongles. When plugged into any display, the Webex Share device greets you, shows you the calendar schedule for the day, and invites you to share content to the screen. When paired to the device with your Webex Meetings or Webex Teams app, you can share content wirelessly with a single click.

For workplace transformation to truly redefine your business, physical spaces need to merge with technology-driven experiences. Spaces must be designed for the desired outcome and equipped with the collaboration devices that effortlessly pair with applications people use every day.
