STADA Romania, the Romanian subsidiary of the STADA Arzneimittel AG group, announces an investment of 48.3 million euros in a new production facility that will be built in Arieș Industrial Park in Turda, Cluj County. The greenfield project is partially supported in its implementation by the Romanian Government, through a state aid contribution. The new production and packaging unit will initially include 9 state-of-the-art technology lines for solid dose products (capsules and tablets), with a capacity of 100 million packages per year. The total area of the unit is aprox 30,000 sqm and allows a rapid expansion of production lines to a number of 12.
The entire surface of the land is 100,000 square meters and also allows a further development of production facilities, through the construction of new buildings, depending on market demand and related to the needs of continuous development of the company.
The finished products from the Turda unit – both prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals – are intended to serve mainly the European markets in which STADA Group operates.
“The investment in the Turda Factory and the partnership with the Romanian Government show once again that STADA is not only a reliable partner for local authorities and health authorities, but also a company involved in the development of the markets in which it operates. We chose Turda because it is a town located in the heart of a region that is strategically important for the STADA Group. It is close to our warehouse in Timisoara, also completed this year, close to the STADA production units in Serbia, as well as to our testing laboratory that serves the Stada group globally. The geographical location of the factory also provides fast transport links to all European markets.” said Mihai Fugarevici, General Manager of STADA Romania.
The STADA factory in Turda will be built according to a solid foundation of sustainability, using modern, state-of-the-art technology, as well as a suite of facilities that require low energy consumption, such as photovoltaic solar panels, solar thermal system and even roof green to balance temperature fluctuations. The construction stages and the operational part will be coordinated by Veroljub Ljubinkovic, who will lead the project as Site Head.
The deadline for the completion of the project is planned for October 2024. Full operating status of the facility involves a team of 375 employees with rich experience in the pharmaceutical industry, which will capitalize on the strong legacy of the Cluj region in this field.
“In a fast-growing city it is necessary for the business environment to be diversified with top services. Our concept of community administration in its interest also opens the door for Stada Group. We appreciate the fact that it brings here, in Turda, within the Aries logistics park, a world-class investment at recognized European standards. Stada Group is the right company for the right place. Being focused on excellence, Stada is the right company for Turda to develop both horizontally and vertically, and this will be for the benefit of the entire community. We are honored by their presence in our city and at the same time this enforces us to be a fair partner and to support them continuously.” said The Mayor of Turda, Mr Cristian Octavian Matei
The main partner of STADA Romania in the market prospecting, due diligence, and consultancy regarding the state aid was the NOERR company, which proved to be a perfect business partner, which understood exactly the client’s needs and offered the best solution for implementation and development.
