This year Romania was represented by four 3-member teams of students who put forward their ideas and impressed the jury of P&G executives. The winner was one of the three Greek teams, which managed to make an impression on the jury and is expected to represent SE Europe in the next round of the competition to be held at the end of March.

P&G’s international “CEO Challenge” competition is a first-class annual event for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Already in its sixth year, the competition has evolved into an institution for the student community. The “CEO Challenge” acts as a link between academic knowledge and professional experience. Under the guidance of experienced P&G officers, students are provided with an opportunity to advance their skills and be assessed in business strategy development and the resolution of realistic business challenges. To this day, thousands of students from numerous countries, with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds and with varied levels of experience, have participated in the event and many of them have already joined the P&G family.

This year’s competition, which was held online on account of circumstances, involved the participation of 240 students from 36 countries throughout Europe. The SE Europe team, with which the Romanian students competed, comprised 30 candidates from 4 countries. The students were asked to work on a business case study for one of P&G’s top brands, Oral-B, and were invited to address a number of challenges based on real working conditions, demonstrating strategic acumen and innovative thinking.

“We live in an era of radical changes –in the economy, in society and in industry– which have recently become even more pronounced as a result of the health crisis we are currently experiencing. It is only certain that today’s youth shall have to develop completely new skills in order to successfully address new challenges. With the ‘CEO Challenge’ event, we are offering the leaders of tomorrow an opportunity to have a hands-on experience of being at the helm of a major corporation, a position from which they shall soon be called upon to set a course not just for the company of the future, but also for society in the future,” said Ms. Despina Passaris, Communications Director for Central and South East Europe.

The “CEO Challenge” is part of a broader line of P&G’s activities aimed at offering our youth access to knowledge, skills and resources which shall help them in their future professional life. Specifically, through intracompany training programmes and interactive events, P&G Romania aspires to provide students with continuous coaching and, in particular, to help them take the academic knowledge they have already acquired to a practical experience level, thereby thoroughly familiarizing them with the expectations of the modern market.
