Over 71 pct of CEE leaders say lack of available talent biggest threat for business

Over 71 percent of leaders in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) say lack of available talent represents the biggest threat to their business, the Worldcom Trust Index, published by Worldcom Public Relations Group shows.

For 2018, the Worldcom Trust Global Index is 26.4 (out of 100), demonstrating a moderate leadership confidence to succeed in boosting productivity by empowering employees. In the CEE the value of the index is 19.7.

According to the survey, 67 percent of Eastern and Central European leaders want to focus on customers and less on employees – almost double the global average and only 4 percent of CEE leaders think they have “the right plan to achieve their goals.”

Overall, the first three threats to the workforce in terms of business development are believed to be the legislative changes, lack of talent and cybercrime.  Also, 43 percent of leaders want to pay more attention to employees in 2018 than last year.

“When you read the results carefully, you notice more contradictions and inconsistencies that show some global uncertainty,” says Todd Lynch, Managing Director of Worldcom Public Relations Group. “As incentives for employees are fundamental in providing a very good customer experience, the report suggests that leaders’ confidence in their own ability to satisfy their customers is decreasing as they “run” for the best employees. A combination of answers revealed by this study places the employee in the midst of business problems, more in 2018 than ever. It’s really the employee’s year!”

“Nowhere is the problem of finding the right employees more serious than at home. The study seems to demonstrate that the leaders of this part of Europe would place themselves in a latent, passive search process, focusing on their client and the experience they provide as the main engine in business. More worryingly, I find the value of the relationship between employee quality and the way you can support your business plan: if only 4 percent of the CEO / CMO think they can do what they are proposing – this opens the prospect of deeper analysis, including and other factors that influence business predictability. This is a study that has worked a lot in Worldcom and I hope to help the elite of the Romanian business to see more clearly where we are going, comparing our problems with global leaders,” said Rares Petrisor, General Manager Media Positive, partner agency Worldcom PR Group in Romania.

The global survey is conducted at CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) as part of Employee Year – 2018. The research was conducted for Worldcom PR Group by Research Now and 3GEM, which processed 585 answers from world leaders (167 from the Americas, 106 from Asia and 312 from the EMEA).
