16 years of Kanal D. Dogan Media International Group expands its operations in Romania

Today, March 1, Kanal D celebrates 16 years, and the station’s stars and the entire team behind the cameras have reason to rejoice and are grateful to the millions of viewers who have been with Kanal D throughout this extraordinary journey. It has been a challenging and successful time, during which the Kanal D team has fulfilled its noble mission of providing audiences with unique experiences, quality entertainment and relevant information at the highest technological standards.

Kanal D is in the top three generalist stations in Romania, often placing first and second in all monitored targets, ending 2022 in second place in Prime Time (20:00-24:00), in the top ratings, with a market share of 14.4%, nationwide. 16.5 million (reach 000) viewers watched the programs offered by Kanal D in 2022, according to data provided by Kantar Media International.

Dogan Media International entered the Romanian market in 2007, with the launch of Kanal D station, and in 16 years it has consolidated its position, becoming an integrated Multimedia Group, a true creative hub offering diversified content available on different access and presentation media: TV (Kanal D), Radio (Radio Impuls) and Digital (websites kanald.ro, stirilekanald.ro, wowbiz.ro, kfetele.ro, radioimpuls.ro and YouTube channels with exclusive video content WOWNews and TheXclusive).

On Kanal D’s birthday, Dogan Media International is taking a strategic step by launching a new generalist television channel, Kanal D2.  The new TV station will broadcast full HD from 2 April, with the launch of the new season of the inspirational show “Bravo ai estilo!”, with a special edition premiering on Sunday at 19:00.

The Kanal D2 station will come up with an alternative programme line-up for the general public, with original productions, quality entertainment and useful information.

“We are very happy to come with good news, especially on this special day. Kanal D2 will be broadcasting from 2 April, it will be a generalist television with a national reach. Bravo, you have style!, a flagship show with a huge success, will be part of the Kanal D2 programming grid. This is an important, strategic transfer, which is also linked to the positioning of the new TV channel.  We want to bring to Kanal D2 a heterogeneous, active, dynamic audience, to whom we will offer diversity, fresh content and our own approach, as we are used to. Along with the Kanal D anniversary, we also celebrate four years since Radio Impuls, a CHR radio station targeting a young, urban audience, eager for current music and infotainment programmes, joined the Dogan Media International family.  Since its takeover in 2019, Radio Impuls’ audience in Bucharest has increased 5 times (from 4. 000 to 27,000 listeners). From the 9 licenses it initially held, Radio Impuls has continuously expanded and developed, both editorially and territorially, currently counting 19 licenses, in the most important cities of the country (Bucharest, Brasov, Timisoara, Constanta, Cluj, Craiova, Bacau, Tulcea, Rasnov, Sibiu, Aiud, Bistrita, Targu Mures, Botoșani, Ploiesti, Câmpina, Sinaia, Alba Iulia, Câmpeni).
