MPs that are part of the special committee for the change of justice laws passed an amendment to the Criminal Code that enforces a threshold for the abuse in office.

According to the voted version, the abuse in office will be prosecuted if the computed damage doesn’t exceed the minimum gross wage, which currently stands at RON 1,900 (or around EUR 410).

There were 13 votes for this change, seven against, while one MP abstained from voting. The amendments have to be voted by MPs during the special session and president Klaus Iohannis has to sign the draft bill into law before becoming applicable.
