The Greek toys retailer Jumbo will open three more hyper stores in Romania until June 2019, according to a statement of the company.
“The investment in Romania continues and three more hyper stores are expected to open in the country until June 2019,” the company said.
Jumbo operates today 75 stores, 51 of which are located in Greece, 10 in Romania, 9 in Bulgaria and 5 in Cyprus. The group also operates an online store.
During the fiscal year 2017/2018, the Greek group opened two owned hyper stores in Romania. The first opened in October 2017 in the city of Suceava (of 14.500 sqm) and the other in February 2018 in Bucharest (11.800 sqm).
Romania is the second largest market for Jumbo, after Greece, and the group intend to extend its Romanian network up to 25 hyper stores by 2025.
In H2 2017, Jumbo’s Romanian business represented 13,8 percent of its total turnover, while it also contributed 18,9 percent of the total earnings.
According to the group, the growth rate in its sales in Romania was above 50 percent in the last year.
