Zetta, the plastic surgery and microsurgery clinic, is counting on a turnover of approximately 13,23 million RON, increased by almost 20% compared to the previous year. The forecast is based on many aspects, but one of the most important ones is the increased number of patients choosing private clinic for treatment to avoid state hospitals, due to the pandemic. This behavioral trend was observed in 2020 also.

“Last year, the number of surgeries increased by more than 8%, compared to 2019. Now, we have even more patients that request interventions from the `non-esthetic` categories. The reasons are obvious, more patients now prefer private hospitals, given the fact that many state hospitals have been transformed into special units for COVID-19”, says Andreea Constantin, Zetta Clinic CEO.

Just as every other medical center that was unprepared for the sanitary crisis, the Zetta Clinic also had to adapt to the new reality by applying fast solutions meant to ensure a normal flow of activity, right after the lockdown period ended in May, last year.

”Things changed from one day to another. Besides the attention towards our business, we first needed to take good care of the patients that came at our door and our employees as well, while keeping a balanced relationship between partners and collaborators. From that point until now, we had to permanently make the right decisions by considering the new context”, Andreea Constantin added.

The fall of medical tourism was another challenge faced in 2020, the Zetta Clinic having patients from over 40 countries. Thus, the start of the pandemic led to a total blockage of this whole segment. And it was not only local, it was also on the international level for all medical companies that tried to develop in this direction as well.

Even though circumstances were unfavorable, as Andreea Constantin stated, the plans for the development of the clinic were not abandoned. We’re talking about an investment of 1.5 million euros started in 2019, with a completion date estimated to be during this year, for transforming the Zetta Clinic, situated in the northern side of Bucharest, into a hospital, with more operating rooms. A part of this amount is covered by bank loans. Also, an important move was that the construction works payments were made through IMM Invest, a program developed by the Romanian authorities to support activities affected by the sanitary crisis.

Zetta Clinic’s activity was conducted on two floors until last year and, meanwhile, another 3 floors were acquired to increase the intervention capacity. Currently, about 90% of the clinic’s total revenues come from surgeries, Zetta having many experienced doctors as collaborators and always being open to new partnerships. The remaining 10% represent office procedures, consultations, esthetic medicine and other connected specializations, such as general surgery, dermatology or orthopedics.
