OMV Petrom continues to support the modernization of the Ploiești County Emergency Hospital

OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy company in Southeastern Europe, is increasing its contribution to the modernization of the operating block of the Ploiești County Emergency Hospital by 2 million euros. This is the third contribution to this important medical institution and adds to the sponsorships totaling 5 million euros over the past two years. The latest contribution will fund the modernization of the most important operating rooms for neurosurgery and general surgery. Thus, the entire operating block will be brought up to standards that support high-complexity interventions.

“The Ploiești County Emergency Hospital is an important landmark for the residents of Prahova County, which is why we have decided to increase our contribution so that the entire operating block can be modernized. The sponsorship will cover the costs for important medical equipment, such as surgery and neurosurgery tables, advanced anesthesia machines, complete equipment for neurosurgery, complete equipment for urological surgery, defibrillators, radiology equipment, and more. In the past two years, 11 out of the 13 operating rooms of the hospital have already been equipped with modern and complete operating lines with the support of OMV Petrom.

The company has supported Dăruiește Viață Association with 10 million euros for the first pediatric oncology hospital in Romania. This year, the company announced support of around 7 million euros for HOSPICE Casa Speranței, the most important foundation in Romania offering palliative care services. OMV Petrom has also supported the Blondie Association with 1.5 million euros to facilitate the transportation of patients, especially children, whose conditions cannot be treated in our country. The company has also been involved in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting the Red Cross and frontline hospitals with 1.4 million euros. In total, over the past 5 years, OMV Petrom has supported the Romanian healthcare sector with over 27 million euros.

The Ploiești County Emergency Hospital is the largest medical institution in Prahova County. The hospital serves a population of over 800,000 residents in Prahova County and neighboring areas, with over 65,000 inpatients and over 160,000 emergency department patients annually.
