MedLife supports well-being at summer festivals

MedLife, Romania’s leader in medical services, maintains well-being at the most beloved music events of the summer season: Summer Well, Smida Jazz Festival, SoNoRo Musikland Festival, Jazz in the Park, and Electric Castle, the latter starting today. Continuing these partnerships represents an adjacent approach through which MedLife contributes to improving the physical and emotional health of people, as part of the commitment to making Romania better together.

This strategy is based on several scientific studies that show that music is not just an art form but also a powerful therapeutic tool. According to these studies, music:

  • reduces cortisol levels, also known as the “stress hormone.” A study conducted by the University of Helsinki in 2021 shows that adults who listened to both personal and neutral selections of music in a familiar environment (at home) or in a new environment (in a laboratory) had significantly reduced cortisol levels;
  • brings numerous benefits in treatments for mental health. This is the conclusion of an extensive study published in 2021 in Frontiers in Psychology, analyzing 349 studies on the usefulness of music in treating mental conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression, with results being 68.5% positive;
  • diminishes burnout symptoms. Participants in a study published in 2020 in Libyan J Med, who are part of the staff in an operating block exposed to various constraints such as extended working hours, severe medical conditions, and serious consequences in case of malpractice, significantly improved their stress levels with music therapy, with the authors suggesting widespread use of it as a “non-pharmacological, simple, economical, and non-invasive” preventive measure;
  • helps you fall asleep. A study from 2018 published in PLoS One showed that 62% of respondents listened to various genres of music to fall asleep. The survey indicated that, in addition to relaxation, music has the ability to drive away negative thoughts that can lead to insomnia;
  • can literally heal the heart. Scientific American published a study in 2021 showing that, for cardiac patients, listening to music can stimulate the cardiovascular system, improve blood flow, and reduce blood pressure.

These are just a few of the recent studies that demonstrate that listening to music is a complex phenomenon that involves psychological, emotional, cardiorespiratory, and other level changes. Individual responses to music are influenced by familiarity and preferences in this artistic field. To cover a wide range of musical preferences, MedLife has chosen to support this year’s editions of Electric Castle (July 19 – 23), SoNoRo Musikland Festival (July 14 – 23), Summer Well (August 11-13), Smida Jazz Festival (August 18 – 20), and Jazz in the Park (September 1-3).

In addition to music, social connection and good physical and mental condition influence well-being at festivals. MedLife has chosen to be an active partner in several summer festivals, convinced that their benefits are invaluable at both individual and community levels. In this regard, MedLife participates with a unique and interactive activation centered around the mirror as a self-reflection and self-confidence boosting tool. In addition to the self-awareness experience, the MedLife team ensures that participants are in their best shape with themed workshops, massage, and general medical assistance, which are highly useful at such large-scale events.

“Festivals, with their diversity, represent a platform for cultivating a united community, stimulate the local economy, and promote pride in the place we live. Beyond their impact on society, moments of leisure and fun are essential for the emotional balance of each of us. These are the reasons why MedLife is an active partner in maintaining well-being among festival-goers,” said Ina Ilie, Communications Director at MedLife.

For festival-goers who want to check their well-being, MedLife has prepared two medical analysis packages: Festival Vibe and Festival Joy. Those who present their Electric Castle, Summer Well, Smida Jazz Festival, and Jazz in the Park tickets at the reception of any MedLife clinic or collection point in the country will benefit from a 25% discount on one of the two packages. The campaign is valid until September 30, and each festival-goer can benefit from the discount only once.
