Focus on healthcare: protecting employees and fighting the pandemic

After this pandemic year, like no other in recent history, businesses emphasize, once again, the importance of having healthy employees. Studies reveal that most Romanian companies plan on providing their employees with more “healthy” extra-salary benefits, such as epidemiological testing, anti-COVID-19 vaccination, but also medical subscriptions with more services included. This has become increasingly important, for businesses and employees alike, because we are talking about a growingly competitive labor market. In this environment, alongside the new paradigm of the way work relationships changed this past year, protecting employees’ health and creating a safe work environment are paramount for rewarding employees.

During the pandemic, companies have been resorting to private health providers offering full services, whenever they needed a specific type of assistance. REGINA MARIA Health Network has always supported its partners, by actively contributing to the welfare and safety of employees and the Romanian business sector.

Subscribers consult their physicians twice as often

REGINA MARIA studies show that in 2020 the number of company workers opting for comprehensive subscriptions with more services included increased by 50%, compared to the previous year.

In turn, subscribers purchased value-added pachages for family members on the REGINA MARIA online store, accounting for over 50% of the total number of subscriptions purchased since the e-commerce platform was launched.

Furthermore, not only large companies invested in their employees’ health, but also SMEs signed additional deals with REGINA MARIA, despite the delicate financial context generated by the pandemic. Over 80% of medical packages purchased by SMEs for their employes were medium-to premium-range subscriptions.

Subscribers consult their physicians twice as often compared to people without a health subscription. In the long term, this type of behavior strengthens people’s health and prevents illnesses, entailing significant emotional and financial costs.

Medical subscriptions, key role in fighting the pandemic

Last year, REGINA MARIA, in partnership with major local employers, conducted large-scale testing campaigns to ensure a healthy environment for all the employees, since workers’ health was one of the biggest concerns of 2020.

Over 40,000 RT-PCR and antibody tests were carried out to the benefit of over 36,000 employees, both in lines of production, as well as office-level employees, contributing to their comfort and safety.

Companies’ testing behavior varied according to their individual profile. Some companies preferred to screen their whole staff whereas others opted for occasional and specific testing, such as testing to confirm the virus infection, testing direct contacts, testing members of management ahead of key meetings or when traveling abroad.

Companies that used Regina Maria’s testing services in 2020 operate in sectors such as finance and banking, IT, hospitality, transports (road and maritime), energy, gas and electricity, retail, telecom, the food industry, media and advertising, constructions, the pharmaceutical industry or education.

And in this particular context, of COVID-19, there is an important mention to be underlined: 95% of Regina Maria subscriptions include services and investigations for patients who’ve had the COVID-19 disease and who developed long-term affections, as a result of the disease or the treatment they followed.

Apps that make everything easier

Medical services focusing on prevention have recently relied on innovative digial solutions for subscribers, aimed at facilitating their interaction with medical personnel.

The Virtual Clinic was one of the prominent digital projects, developed by REGINA MARIA in record time at the start of the pandemic. It has now become a major resource – subscribers can benefit from medical consultations from the comfort of their own homes or offices, including occupational medicine services. Over 400 healthcare professionals specializing in over 30 fields provide remote consultations.

Since its launch in April 2020 and to this day, the Virtual Clinic has had nearly 300,000 apointments, mostly subscribers.

Medical subscriptions are the best way employees can get quick and constant access to safe, quality and reliable healthcare services. Companies can use the best instrument available to take care of their teams, making sure their employees lead a healthy life, are productive and happy, both at work and at home. This is the very reason why subscriptions remain the most important extra-salary non-cash benefit provided to company employees in 2021 as well.
